Michael Seaton
Michael has spent his career creating strategy and driving tactics on both the client and agency side. His leadership in the digital world combines areas including brand, database and loyalty marketing with a deep knowledge of social media and community building. He brings a multi-disciplinary approach with a foundation in results measurement, conversion and web analytics.
Michael is currently Head of Digital Marketing at CNIB where he leads online and digital strategy for the organization. Michael is also Principal of Level C Digital, a consulting practice he founded to help brands develop long term marketing strategies. He consults with and advises companies on how to succeed in the online world with innovative and return-on-investment based marketing.
Michael's experience includes over a decade as Director, Digital Marketing at Scotiabank where he led the bank's digital strategy. His accomplishments include establishing Scotiabank’s industry leading and award-winning digital marketing and relationship marketing programs integrated across multiple customer touch-points and media channels. Michael developed and launched Scotiabank's social media programs including the bank's online community and podcast. Most recently, Michael was Vice President, Digital Marketing at Thornley Fallis, where he developed strategic marketing campaigns and community based initiatives on behalf of a variety of clients.
Michael is an active speaker across North America, bringing over fifteen years experience in the advertising, marketing & communications industry. His work has been recognized with numerous national and international marketing awards throughout his career.
Michael is co-author of the Canadian Marketing Association’s Guide to eMail Marketing and currently teaches Canada’s only Professional Certificate Course in eMarketing. He has his own marketing blog and podcast, The Client Side, rated as a “Top Ten Must Read” by Marketing Magazine as well as being listed on Advertising Age’s "Power 150" marketing blogs. He co-created and developed the Canadian Marketing Blog and also co-authored the CMA's recent White Paper on Mobile Marketing.
Michael is a Director, Board of Directors, Canadian Marketing Association and Chair of the Digital Marketing Executive Council. He is a Director, Board of Directors with AIMS - Association of Internet Marketing & Sales where he also is Chair of the Events portfolio. He also sits on the Advertising Executive Council with the IAB - Interactive Advertising Bureau of Canada.
